LENTILS TAKE 35 MINUTES TO COOK. IF YOU HAVE THIS CURRY PASTE READY, YOU CAN HAVE DINNER READY QUICKLY. 10 CUPS OF WATER. YOU CAN USE CHICKEN STOCK, VEGETABLE STOCK. WE WILL ADD SPINACH AT THE END. AND WE HAVE LENTIL SOUP. IF I ACTUALLY MADE THIS, MY HUSBAND WOULD BE SO IMPRESSED. [LAUGHTER] ♪ >> THIS IS THE BEST LENTIL CURRY SOUP I HAVE EVER, EVER HAD. WITH CONVICTION. I CAN PUT IT ON THE STOVETOP, COME BACK TWO HOURS LATER AND HAVE STOVE BROTH AND BEEF I CAN SHRED. I LIKE TO PUT RADISHES ON THIS ONE. >> BROTH IS SO GOOD. I DON’T WANT TO USE A SPOO ORN A FORK. I JUST WANT TO DRINK IT. [LAUGHTER] >> THIS IS DELICIOUS. >> I COULD EAT THIS ALL DAY. SHAYNA: FINALLY THE QUINTESSENTIAL WINTERTIME DISH, CHICKEN POT PIE. SHE PUSHES A CHICKEN WITH CARROTS, CELERY, AND ONIONS. >> I USE THE STOCK TO HELP ME START THE FILLING. IT HAS LEEKS, CARROTS, PEAS, HEAVY CREAM, PARSLEY, AND LEMON JUICE TO GET ACIDITY TO BRIGHTEN UP THE FILLING. SHAYNA: THE PIE PASTRY IS STORE-BOUGHT. >> WHEN YOU CUT INTO EVERYTHING, YOU HEAR THE CRISPY SOUNDS. I DID NOT WANT TO TELL YOU I AM NOT A POT PIE PERSON. THIS IS SO GOOD. >> THANK YOU. >> IT IS COMFORT FOOD. ALL YOU POTPIE PEOPLE OUT THERE, THIS ONE IS FOR YOU. THAT POT PIE WAS GOOD. THE CURRY PASTE THAT WENT INTO THE LENTIL SOUP CAN BE USED AS A RUB ON CHICKEN OR FISH AS WELL. LEIGH ALSO SAYS YOU CAN ADD COCONUT MILK TO THE LENTIL SOUP TO MAKE IT RICHER.
