WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.


WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

LIGHT DAMAGE
A resident in the 400 block of Sunset Road reported that they had discovered on the night of Sept. 9 that someone had done $200 in damage to a light fixture on the side of their home.

STOLEN LIGHT POLE
A resident in the 0-100 block of Abbotsford Road reported that someone had stolen a brass light pole with a light fixture worth $1,000 sometime between 8 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 10.

ADDRESS MARKER/FENCE DAMAGE
A resident in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue discovered around 11:40 p.m. on Sept. 9 that someone had damaged decorative fencing and an address marker, causing $400 in damage.

FENCE DAMAGE
A resident in the 400 block of Sunset Road reported that someone did $100 in damage to a picket fence between 9 p.m. on Sept. 9 and noon on Sept. 10.

LIGHT DAMAGE
A resident in the 400 block of Sunset Road reported that someone did $250 in damage to two landscaping lights between 8 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 11.

SIGN DAMAGE
A resident in the 1100 block of Laurel Avenue discovered between 9:45 and 10 p.m. on Sept. 14 someone had done $350 in damage to a real estate sign.

GOLF COURSE DAMAGE
A staffer at the Winnetka Golf Club at 1300 Oak St. reported that someone did $100 in damage to the turf of the golf course near its twelfth hole.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 20-year-old Waukegan man was arrested at 11:37 a.m. on Sept. 13 in the 900 block of Westmoor Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued a citation for using a cellphone while driving.

Antoinette J. Allmon, 56, of the 3200 block of South Prairie Avenue in Chicago, was arrested shortly before 11 a.m. on Sept. 14 at her home and charged with forgery as a result of an investigation into a report that two fraudulent checks worth a combined $3675.56 were cashed on Nov. 13 and Nov. 16 at a Winnetka bank in the name of a Lakeville, Minnesota resident.

Gerry Kaishian, 36, of the 2800 block of West Waveland Avenue in Chicago, was arrested shortly after 11 a.m. on Sept. 16 in the 800 block of Lincoln Avenue and charged with criminal trespassing following a report of a suspicious person trying to get into a home. He was also issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.


GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

'GRANDSON' SCAM
A Skokie Lane resident reported on the afternoon of Sept. 17 that someone had called them claiming to be their grandson. The resident realize it was an attempted scam, hung up and contacted police. There was no reported loss.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 29-year-old Northbrook man was arrested at 8:08 p.m. on Sept. 14 near the intersection of Park Avenue and Sheridan Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also issued citations for driving without lights when required and driving without a rear license plate light.

Chayl Gonzalez, 27, of the 2900 block of North New England Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 12:32 a.m. in the 0-100 block of Sheridan Road in Highland Park after colliding with a guard rail and a street sign and fleeing the scene. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more, cited for two ordinance violations for damage to property and ticketed for failure to give information and improper lane usage.


NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

ASPHALT ACCIDENT
After police were called to the intersection of Willow and Happ roads for a report of a road grating machine sending a chunk of asphalt into a passing vehicle, police helped exchange information between the owner of the car and the operator of the machine, which agreed to pay for repairs.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A Briar Lane resident reported that they had made an appointment with a representative of an energy service to inspect the gas lines at their home, but found it suspicious that the inspection was not completed by their existing natural gas supplier. However, police confirmed the energy service was indeed authorized to complete the inspection.

BATTERY
A fight involving 15 to 20 people was reported shortly before 9:45 on Sept. 10 in Clarkson Park. Police separated the group, and no one wanted to provide a statement to police or press charges. There were no injuries reported and officers remained on scene to disperse the group.

‘GRANDSON’ SCAM
A Coventry Road resident reported on the morning of Sept. 11 that someone had called them claiming to be a friend of their grandson. The caller claimed the grandson had been arrested and needed $14,000 to bond him out of jail. The resident did not provide any payment, hung up the phone and did not provide any money.

‘SECRETS’ SCAM
A Country Lane resident reported on the morning fo Sept. 13 that they had gotten a letter from someone claiming to have evidence of an extramarital affair and demanding $9,100 worth of Bitcoin to not release the information. Police notified the resident it was a common scam and recommended they not reply.

TICKET SCAM
A Happ Road resident reported on the morning of Sept. 14 that they had bought tickets to an event at the United Center via Craigslist and become concerned that the tickets were fake. The resident was unsure whether they wished for police to investigate, so they were advised to contact the event organizers.

SUSPICIOUS CONVERSATION
A resident in the 800 block of Bridlegate Lane reported on Sept. 15 that someone had pulled up around 9:30 a.m. in a gold, older model Honda sedan, stopped in front of their home and started talking to their child. Police did not locate the vehicle and are investigating the incident.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 300 block of Latrobe Avenue reported on Sept. 16 that someone had broken into their home between noon and 4 p.m. that day, reportedly stealing coins and silver pieces.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Edwin H. Song, 55, of the 500 block of Manda Lane in Wheeling, was arrested at 12:42 p.m. on Sept. 13 and charged with misdemeanor battery in connection with an Aug. 2 incident. He was accused of making inappropriate contact with the breasts of a female customer during a manicure while working at a salon in the 300 block of South Happ Road.

Elizabeth I. Crown, 57, of the 300 block of Eaton Street in Northfield, was arrested at 3:48 p.m. on Sept. 16 and charged with domestic battery after police were called to her home for a report she bit a man on the arm and struck him in the head with a bottle of laundry detergent.
