'Criminal Minds' Season 11 Cast News & Air Date: Is Someone Going To Say Goodbye? Matthew Gray Gubler Spills Details

Someone might be leaving the team as "Criminal Minds" returns for Season 11. According to Fashion & Style, Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays Dr. Spencer Reid, revealed that he will be directing one episode for the show and he added that a team member will be leaving.

Gubler said in an interview that there will be one special episode where one of the regular team members will make his or her departure. The departure of the unknown character will follow that of Jennifer Love Hewitt's Kate Callahan. It was also reported earlier that because of A.J. Cook's pregnancy, she may not be appearing in five or more episodes in the upcoming season.

Fans believe that it may be Hotch (Thomas Gibson), Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Derek (Shemar Moore) and Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) who will possibly leave in the upcoming season. However, Gubler confirmed that his character might be sticking around for a long time. He said in an interview that he still wants to see his character grow and become less socially awkward and more confident.

Executive producer Erica Messer spoke about the character Dr. Spencer Reid in an interview and revealed that he will be having a dramatic moment during the first episode of Season 11. According to Enstarz, the EP revealed that the character will be responsible for a crucial takedown and will be involved in a rather disturbing scene.

It seems like the upcoming season will focus on Dr. Reid's character more as Messer revealed that they are also working on developing some kind of romance between Dr. Reid and his new forensic team partner. It was earlier reported that this character will be played by Aisha Tyler as she joins the cast as Dr. Tara Lewis.

"Criminal Minds" Season 11 will premiere on CBS on September 23.
