Sherri Shepherd (‘The Masked Singer’ Penguin) exit interview: ‘I thought I was gonna pass out every single time’ [WATCH]

“I gave everybody all the joy that I have,” Sherri Shepherd declared after being revealed as the Penguin on Fox’s wild and wacky reality TV show “The Masked Singer.” After performing Meghan Trainor‘s “All About That Bass,” Penguin lost the audience vote against Rottweiler, Ladybug, Tree, Flower and Fox and was forced to reveal her true identity in front of America. In Sherri’s exit interview following the taping, the Emmy-winning TV host, actress and comedian admitted she was “so scared” so participate in “The Masked Singer” (watch above).

As for why she had so many butterflies in her tummy, Sherri explained, “Singing is not my forte. I thought I was gonna pass out every single time on the stage, but I did it and I feel really good. I feel like, gosh, I can do anything.” She chose to perform “All About That Bass” because it’s a song about being confident in your own skin.

“I would watch this with my son, and Jenny McCarthy thought the Raven was me,” Sherri said in reference to Season 1’s costumed celeb that turned out to be talk show host Ricki Lake. “So my son Jeffrey was like, ‘Mommy, you should do the show.’ I said, ‘Okay, let me just try something that scares me,’ and I did it.”

Sherri revealed that even though the Penguin’s eyes were on the side of the mask, she could only see out of a small portion below the beak. “I could see my feet!” she exclaimed. “This has been the hardest thing for me not being able to talk. Are you kidding me? I make my money talking for a living.”

Ever the comedian, Sherri is now hoping Fox will let her use the Penguin costume for her “dating profile,” joking, “I think my numbers will go up tremendously if I had this on. This is the best role play ever.” Will you miss Penguin on Season 2 of “The Masked Singer”? Sound off down in the comments section.
