CLEVELAND, Ohio — Authorities are investigating after a dead body was found by people walking on the beach at Edgewater Park Thursday morning.

Two people walking along the beach spotted the body at about 8:50 a.m. When they spotted the body, it was about 100 yards off shore. They then contacted authorities.

When police arrived, the body was roughly five yards off-shore.

The body is that of a man, according to Cleveland Fire Department spokesperson Larry Gray. The person has not yet been identified, and it is not clear yet how he died.

The United States Coast Guard and Cleveland Metroparks Police were called to investigate.
