Road racing star James Hillier has raised more than £5000 for mental health charity CALM by riding from John O’Groats to Land’s End in a single day… on a Honda C90.

Setting off at 2am on a chilly November morning, the former TT winner completed the route alongside fellow Cub pilot James Jackson in a time of 17 hours and six minutes and was joined for sections of the route by fans and famous faces, including John McGuinness.

“Having all the support was a bit surreal,” Hillier told MCN. “I didn’t expect it and when we left John O’Groats there were probably eight or so bikes with us.”

The charitable duo set off with a target of £5000, however at the time of writing their Just Giving Page already stands at £5455, with a further £2069.25 in Gift Aid, with donations still possible online. This money will be used by the charity to help combat mental health struggles and suicide.

The C90s themselves were geared for top end and three five-litre fuel tanks were added to allow for over 300 miles between stops.
