Syracuse burger named the best in New York by state beef council

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Power Play Burger from Syracuse's Ale 'n' Angus Pub is the best burger in New York, according to the New York Beef Council.

The burger--a half-pound Angus beef burger topped with shaved prime rib, American cheese, lettuce and tomato served on a New York Bakery soft kaiser roll--was named the 2018 Best New York Burger winner by a team of Yelp Elite judges.

The state beef council will award Ale 'n' Angus Pub owner Randy Beach with a commemorative plaque later this morning.

The judges visited each of the four finalists and evaluated the burgers on appearance, taste, texture, proper cooking, creativity and service on a scale of 1 to 10.

This is not the first time the Power Play Burger was named the best in the state by the New York Beef Council. The burger took home the top prize in the council's 2012 search.

The other three finalists were the Elvis Burger from Madison Bistro in Wampsville, the Infused Bacon Burger from Uncle's Tavern in New York Mills and the Loose Caboose burger from Crazy Otto's Empire Diner in Herkimer.

The finalists were determined by a week-long popular vote among the 10 semi-finalists. The semi-finalists were the 10 burgers that received the most nominations from April 1 to 13 through the beef council's Facebook page and website.
