Proposal of 2019? Ultra-marathoner gets down on one knee after 135-mile Death Valley run

Japanese ultra runner Yoshihiko Ishikawa got down on one knee following a grueling 135-mile run from Death Valley to Mount Whitney. 

And she said yes. 

Then tears ensued. 

Ishikawa proposed to his girlfriend the second he concluded his race Tuesday in a record-breaking time of 21 hours, 33 minutes, 1 second. He traversed through three California mountain ranges, going up 14,600 feet of elevation, before popping the question in epic fashion. 

The 31-year-old runner began the race — one of the elite ultras in the world, according to Runners World — on Monday at Badwater Basin in Death Valley, the lowest elevation in North America, and ended at Whitney Portal, the highest point in the contiguous United States.

An ultra-marathon is anything longer than the traditional 26.2-mile marathon. Last year, Ishikawa won Greece's Spartathlon, a 153-mile route, with a time of 22:54:40.
