THIS is the bizarre moment a woman stripped down to her undies before going for a swim in a filthy fountain in front of stunned shoppers.
Tomas Smith, 18, was out with his mum when they stopped to enjoy a McDonald’s in Swansea.
But their lunch was interrupted when the woman removed her clothes and plunged into the fountain’s “dirty” water wearing a bra and her underwear.
Video footage shows the woman stripping off in the sun before clambering into the murky-looking water and performing a backstroke.
She can then be seen appearing to position herself over one of the fountain's jets of water before turning to face the camera and adjusting her underwear in full view.
The video went viral on social media, receiving almost 8,000 likes, shares and comments, with the two segments of video clocking up more than half a million views.
Tomas, from Llanelli, near Swansea, said: "Me and my mum were just enjoying our McDonald's when we spotted this woman wander over to the fountain and start taking all her trousers off.
"Straight away I thought 'what is she going to do now?' and so I started recording it.
"She took all her clothes off so she was just wearing a thong and bra and jumped in the water and started splashing around.
"We were gobsmacked and were laughing so hard. I think her underwear was once meant to be white but they were filthy. It was horrible.
"We were trying to eat a McDonald's but it put me right off my Big Mac. She was in there for at least a good five minutes. She was doing backstroke and all sorts."
The teenager speculated that the incident, which occurred around 1pm last Thursday, was prompted by the heatwave weather - but confessed that he wouldn't dream of getting in the fountain's “dirty” water.
Tomas added: "I really don't have a clue why she would have jumped in like that. I really don't.
"But that's Swansea for you. You see a few strange things around the city - but nothing ever as strange as this.
"The water is very, very dirty. Loads of people chuck coins in there, it's full of bird poo, it's disgusting.
"As you can imagine everyone was laughing at the scene. People couldn't believe it, they were appalled.
"When I showed my mates they were crying with laughter. People suggested I put it on Facebook and that I might get a few views - but I never expected it to get this much."
A spokesman for Swansea Council said: “Castle Square fountain is a water feature and is not designed to serve as a bathing pool.
"While we are enjoying some record temperatures we understand people want to cool off but we’d encourage them to head to one of our award winning beaches rather than use the fountain at Castle Square."
