EUTAW, AL (WBRC) - Moving into a new sanctuary is more of a priority than ever for New Generation Church in Eutaw.

Recent rains caused roof leaks in the congregation’s current building, but Pastor Joe Webb said they need the public’s help to make that move.

He pointed out water spots in the ceiling when people look up to pray inside their sanctuary.

“It’s leaking. You can see the areas. The whole ceiling needs to be replaced,” Webb said.

The church is still drying out from a hard rain that flooded the floor and still has water leaking through the roof.

“We have a lot of issues with this building,” he said.

The church is in a building that used to be a movie a theater. Webb said it needs help from the public to move into a new building.

“It’s a huge project so it’s going to take more than what New Generation Church members can do,” Webb said.

New Generation Church has spent several years fixing up an old factory into a sanctuary. The church wanted a bigger building that would also house a food bank, Boys and Girls Club and other ministries. But money and volunteers have started to dry up.

Webb is asking for community support to help finish the job so the church can move in sooner.

“It’s a community project, not just a church. It’s a huge project,” he said.
