OKLAHOMA CITY – Shawnee’s boys placed sixth Saturday at the Carl Albert Tournament.

Kenton McGalliard, Shawnee’s No. 1 singles entrant, went 2-2 and finished fourth. One of his losses was a toughly-contested 6-4, 3-6, 2-6 decision to Ada’s Robert Jackson in his final match of the day.

“Robert Jackson was one of the better players in the tournament,” SHS head coach Terry Woodward said. “Kenton had a very good day. He played well.”

McGalliard defeated entries from Midwest City and Altus.

Shawnee’s No. 1 doubles team of Amar Chandra and Anthony Davis and the No. 2 doubles team of Garrett Hadley and Bryce Jones also finished fourth after going 2-2. Chandra and Davis knocked off entrants from Edmond Santa Fe and Ardmore, while Hadley and Jones were victorious over Midwest City and Yukon.

Carl Albert took the team title with Ardmore second. Ada, Mustang and Yukon tied for third — two points ahead of Shawnee.

“Carl Albert was the class of the field,” Woodward said.

Shawnee’s girls and boys will compete Tuesday at the Ponca City Tournament. Both Shawnee teams will also be involved in Friday’s Guthrie Tournament, slated for the OKC Tennis Center.
