Netflix, the blackhole where productivity goes to die, is also a great repository for special interest shows. So if you're done with those shows that are so bad they're good, here are some genuinely great design shows that'll inspire you to redo your home. Or your room. Or, well, your corner if nothing else. Thank us later!

1. The World's Most Extraordinary Homes

The BBC original series, is one of the few shows that explores the art of building and designs. The series host, architect Piers Taylor and actress/property enthusiast Caroline Quentin travel the world to bring to you beautiful homes and technologies, each more strategically placed than the other; over mountains, forests, and the coasts.

2. Amazing Interiors

Amazing interior is a rather perf title. The series kicks off with images of monotonous homes, barring down your expectations. On the contrary the episodes showcases homes with out-of-the-world concepts. A circus house made off of a shipping container, secret boudoir breathing life into an old factory, a life sized horrific doll house. If you wish to explore bizarre decors, the series is a must watch.

3. Grand Designs

When you have Kevin McCloud hosting the show, we hands down believe there are some spectacular designs in store. Each episode in the reality show, showcases a project from start to finish. The designs range from a singles bedroom cabin to floating houses to retirement homes off the cliff, you name it! The 60-odd minute episode takes us through the whole unique process with unimaginable materials and budgets. Towards its completion McCloud comes on board to give us a tour.

4. Stay Here

If you are planning on redecorating your room, adding plants, throwing in a cheap lounge chair, you have to check out the series first. A designer and a real estate expert set out redoing various homes of those who wish to put up their rooms for rents. These lavish Instagram worthy designs will have you craving for a vacation. Not to mention - you'll be bagging major decor inspiration.

5. Australia's Best Homes

As the name suggests, two design experts and an architect set out to explore unique homes in the country. Each week the trio lives in three homes to pick a finalist. Towards the end of the show, the three analyse the design methods, budget, concept and their take on the product. The finalist, needless to say is crowned The best home in the continent. For all those who wish to indulge in some real world art, the show will have you hooked.

6. The Great Interior Design Challenge

Loosely based off of Design Star and Top Design, the competition series is a decent spin off. Each episode begins with designers receiving a brief about their client and requirements. With less than a week to prepare, it hosts a bunk of fantastic concepts and layouts all on a budget. We suggest, you hold off remodelling your master bedroom until you give the series a view.

7. Cabins in the Wild

The two hosts follow a path in the wild, trailing eight portable cabins in the woods, erected to serve as pop-up hotels. The entire series is a well filmed case study on these unique projects. The show ends with the duo constructing a cabin and taking us through the process. Ultimately you're scoring design insights and a bucket list for your next vacation in the woods.

8. LEGO House: Home of the Brick

Here's a cue, loved building fortress with Lego blocks? The new documentary on Netflix is definitely going to take you down memory lane. Bjarke Ingles, an award winning architect built a 130k sq.ft community centre with these bricks. The documentary takes you through the concept, design, construction and challenges.
