The Ashland area will be getting up to 100 new jobs with a new laundry plant that is a joint venture between Mount Carmel Health System and OhioHealth.

The new plant is estimated to cost $20 million and will serve OhioHealth Mansfield and Shelby Hospitals along with other care locations in north central and northeast Ohio. The new plant is expected to initially create up to 100 jobs, and could create more in the future.

“We are excited about the growth in our laundry and linen service and are bringing 75-100 jobs to north central Ohio,” Heather Brandon, Central Ohio Medical Textiles (COMTEX) Board Chairman said. "The $20 million investment is another example of the commitment OhioHealth and Mount Carmel have to the people of Ohio.”

“This is a great opportunity for central Ohio to bring new technology and jobs to north central Ohio,” Jean M. Halpin, president of OhioHealth Mansfield and Shelby Hospitals said. “Patients and families often don’t think about laundry during a hospital stay, but (COMTEX) ensures that we will have a high quality product, cleaned to perfection, when we need it, to take care of the patients we serve.”

The new site will be located on US-250 near I-71 near Ashland.
