Richard P. (Dick) Wang

Richard (Dick) Wang, 89, of Glyndon, MN, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at his home under hospice care and surrounded by his family. Richard P. (Dick) Wang was born on March 27, 1930 at home in Soldier, Iowa, to Peter and Ragna. His early years were spent in Iowa and in 1946 he and his family moved to Glyndon, MN. He graduated from Glyndon High School in 1947. Dick started farming after High School, raising potatoes, wheat, corn and beans. In 1950 he joined the National Guard. On September 21, 1955, Dick married Mavis Leach in Moorhead, MN. They resided on a farm in the outskirts of Glyndon, MN, where he farmed and raised their 4 daughters. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening. Dick is well known for growing some of the best melons around the area with his magic touch. Dick served on the town board in Moland Township for 45 years. Dick is survived by his wife, Mavis, of over 63 years; daughters Sherri (Bob) Pickett, of Glyndon, Renae (Jeff) Formo, of Rollag, MN, Brenda (Dan Docken) Schmitt, of Fargo, ND and Lisa Wang of Fargo; grandchildren Jason (Tanya) Wang, Tabor Formo and Tori Formo; siblings Marlene Mikkelsen, Fargo, Evonne Carlson, Dodge Center, MN, Ronald (Doreen) Wang, Glyndon, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ellen Rarick and brothers Melvin, Ola (Doc), Peter Jr. and Robert. Visitation: Friday, April 19, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Memorial Service: Saturday, April 20, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Final resting place: Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
