Tornado damages school in Missouri
URBANA, Missouri (CNN) -- A tornado ripped a portion of the roof off Urbana's Skyline Elementary School on Friday and destroyed an adjacent bus barn. Power lines outside the school complex also were torn down, but the Hickory County Sheriff's Department said nobody as injured. A department dispatcher told CNN. "When we got the tornado warning, we advised (the school) of the situation and they went into their tornado drill."
The dispatcher had to hang up when another funnel cloud was sighted, southeast of Weaubleau, Missouri. The National Weather Service in Springfield, Missouri, issued a tornado warning for central Missouri on Friday afternoon. The warning, issued at 2:24 p.m. CST, indicated that the tornado was expected to be near Laurie, Missouri, by 2:45 p.m., moving northeast at 50 miles per hour.
