England supporters condemned by FA after over 100 arrests in Amsterdam for Holland friendly

THE FA have condemned England fans who ran riot in Amsterdam and have promised to sanction members responsible for disorder.
The Three Lions' friendly win over Holland was marred by travelling hooligans who needlessly wreaked havoc in the capital.
Dutch police confirmed that one hundred England fans were arrested.
A statement read: "We condemn the unacceptable scenes in Amsterdam. As we reiterated ahead of the fixture, we always urge supporters to respect our hosts and behave in a responsible manner.
"As ever, The FA will work in partnership with the UK Policing Unit to help identify those involved and we will sanction any England Supporters' Travel Club member found to be responsible for disorder."
The Amsterdam police force posted a statement on their official Twitter account this afternoon announcing the number taken into custody.
It read: "Yesterday 102 people were arrested due to Ned-Eng football. 2 Dutch and 100 English.
"35 spent the night in a cell complex. 94 have so far been sent with a fine.

"The last 8 are still being held, mainly for violence against the police officers."
Almost 60 supporters were detained by riot police in the red light district of the city.
The city's Oudezijds Voorburgwal in the red light district was closed for two hours before kick off as hundreds of yobs pelted officers with beer cans.
There were 5,234 official England Supporters Club ticket holders in the away section at the Amsterdam Arena.

Speaking about the arrests, England boss Gareth Southgate said: "Without knowing the details, obviously it's not something I want to hear because I think our players have represented their country really well with pride and with some style.
"Anything else that takes away from that performance for them would be a great shame."
