Thanks to The Playlist we now have the full main cast for Spielberg‘s upcoming film, War Horse. Rounding out the cast are Emily Watson, Peter Mullan, David Thewlis, Jeremy Irvine and Benedict Cumberbatch. Despite what we previously reported, Eddie Redmayne has been dropped from the film. He was supposed to take the lead but now Jeremy Irvine will fill the role.

There are also a few actors who are still in talks and not yet confirmed for the film. They include Tom Hiddlestone and Stephen Graham. With a release date just over a year away you can be sure production on the film will begin soon, so hopefully we’ll receive more news on the project over the summer.

Set against the backdrop of World War I, War Horse follows the friendship between a boy and a horse who are separated but whose fates continue to intertwine over the course of the Great War.

To be honest, right now I have no interest in the film. It has a relatively unknown cast with a plot that doesn’t excite me in the least, I can’t say I’m looking forward to this one. Sure it’s Spielberg and I’m sure he’ll make a great film, but right now my interest is low.

The film is set for an August 2011 release.

What do you think of the cast for War Horse?
