Wisconsin man convicted in 2002 death charged in fatal crash

A Janesville man convicted in the 2002 hit-and-run death of a jogger is charged in a fatal crash in southern Wisconsin last fall.

Forty-four-year-old Nathan Leopold was charged Wednesday in Green County with homicide by intoxicated driving, among other charges.

Leopold is charged in a head-on crash on Highway 11 in October that killed 70-year-old David Leck of Juda and injured his 12-year-old granddaughter. Investigators found drug paraphernalia and synthetic marijuana in Leopold's SUV.

Leopold, formerly of Mount Horeb, was convicted in Dane County of striking 28-year-old Aimee Kubler as she jogged along a highway. He served time but is back in prison for five years after his probation was revoked for a bail violation.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports Leopold is to appear on the new charges May 30.
