ROCKY FACE, Ga. – Cal (301-284-297 – 882, +18) wrapped up its first tournament of the 2018-19 campaign on Sunday with an 11th-place finish at the Carpet Capital Collegiate hosted by Georgia Tech at The Farm Golf Club. KK Limbhasut (73-69-73 – 215, -1) was the top Cal finisher in a tie for 14th place.

"We simply made too many big numbers and out here this week, and in a strong field, we're going to pay the price," Alex and Marie Shipman Director of Men's Golf Walter Chun said. "We do have a good team, but in order to get better, we have to learn from our mistakes and shortcomings. If we don't learn, then we'll either digress or become stagnant."

Cal played without 2017-18 Golfweek Men's Player of the Year Collin Morikawa, who missed the event to participate for Team USA at the World Amateur Team Championships in Ireland. Morikawa helped the Americans to a second-place showing and finished tied for eighth individually.

Limbhasut, who had his first career hole-in-one in tournament play on the 11th hole during Saturday's second round, was one-over par in his third and final round Sunday with a wild trip around the course that included an eagle, four birdies, five bogeys and one double bogey.

Sebastian Crampton (75-73-72 – 220, +4) was the second Cal player on the leaderboard in a tie for 34th and had the Golden Bears' best round Sunday with an even-par effort that included three birdies and three bogeys. Crampton had two birdies and seven pars during a front-nine 34 while his back-nine 38 included his third and final birdie and all three bogeys.

Kaiwen Liu (76-70-75 – 221, +5), Joseph Chun (77-72-79 – 228, +12) and Ben Doyle (78-78-77 – 233, +17) were also in the Cal lineup and finished tied for 41st, tied for 68th and all alone in 76th, respectively. Chun had a notably crazy round with an eagle, three birdies, four bogeys, one double bogey and a six-over par 10 on the par-four fourth.

Tennessee (280-276-287 – 843, -21) defeated host Georgia Tech (281-275-287 – 843, -21) in a playoff to win the team title while Clemson's Bryson Nimmer (72-69-65 – 206, -10) was the individual medalist.
Cal continues a busy fall schedule with the second of six events this Friday-Sunday, September 14-16 at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational hosted by Illinois at the Olympia Fields Country Club.
