The Montgomery Zoo is a fun place for people of all ages, but this Thursday the grown ups are taking over for the night at the annual Zoobilation.

“You do have to be 21 years old or older to attend because there are alcoholic beverages being served,” said Steven C. Pierce, program services manager for Montgomery Zoo.

Zoobilation is an annual fundraiser event. This year’s event benefits the zoo’s upcoming interactive touch and feel Stingray Bay.

From 6-10 p.m., guests can enjoy drinks and sample foods from about 40 different vendors.

Zoobilation also features two local favorites for live music - Cockeyed Camel and Britt Johnson.

There’s also a silent auction going on that went live online last week at biddingforgood.com. “There will probably be about 200 items involved in that,” said Pierce. “You can actually start putting in bids now for the items that are there.”

Pierce said the zoo’s stingray exhibit is currently scheduled to open this fall. “Visitors who come to Zoobilation are going to get a sneak peek at it,” he said. “We’re going to take train rides over and you’re going to ride past the construction area.”

The train rides will take place at 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Zoobilation tickets are $50 per person. They can be purchased in advance at montgomeryzoo.com, at the Montgomery Zoo, or over the phone at 334-625-4900. “You can also purchase them the night of the event,” said Pierce.
