East Hartford Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Gun Charge

He is facing at least seven years in prison.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — An East Hartford man pleaded guilty to a federal gun charge that will land him in prison for at least seven years.

Daniel Vazquez aka "Chino," 21, was robbed at gunpoint while attempting to purchase marijuana to redistribute in 2014, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office. Vazquez saw the person who robbed him during July 2016 and shot him.

Vazquez was arrested the same day and police found two handguns at his residence, one of which was used in the shooting. That led law enforcement to investigate further and they learned that Vazquez went to North Dakota with others in an effort to purchase firearms that were advertised for sale on a website.
