Wave CEO Steven Sprague to Deliver Plenary Address on Trusted Computing at AFCEA TechNet Land Forces East

LEE, MA--(Marketwire -08/14/12)- Wave Systems Corp. (WAVX) announced today that CEO Steven Sprague will discuss trusted computing for improving network security and addressing today's most serious cyber threats at the AFCEA TechNet Land Forces East Conference on Thursday, August 16th. Mr. Sprague will speak from the main stage following presentations that week by luminaries such as Gen. Keith Alexander, U.S. Cyber Command and Director of the NSA, and U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski.

"Cyber security is a top priority for the U.S. military, with serious threats emerging each day," said Mr. Sprague. "Luckily the industry as a whole has taken a leadership role in providing open security standards, developed and championed by the Trusted Computing Group. By activating the trusted computing technologies that are available in most endpoint devices, organizations can cost-effectively lock down the network, create more robust access controls and safeguard intellectual property."

Specifically, the TCG's Trusted Platform Module (TPM) helps to achieve this by enabling IT administrators to identify with a high level of assurance which device is attempting to access the network, and create policies allowing only known devices to see sensitive information such as intellectual property or customer data. Today, the TPM security chip is embedded in the hardware of more than 600 million laptops. Likewise, the TCG's Mobile Trusted Module (MTM) extends strong device identity built on industry-standard hardware into the mobile realm.
