T-Rex Skis Through Ferndale, Gets A Million Facebook Views

A Ferndale man's video of a T-rex on skis being towed through Ferndale has the world's attention, and 1.5 million views on Facebook.

FERNDALE, MI — A T-rex on skis is putting Ferndale on the map. After last weekend’s snowstorm blanketed Metro Detroit in over a foot of snow, Taylor Bowman and his friend, John Boruta, took advantage of Ferndale’s snowy streets to test some skis. Bowman drove the Jeep, naturally, while Boruta strapped on the skis — and a T-rex costume.

Playing the unmistakable theme from “Jurassic Park” on the car stereo of Bowman’s Jeep, they drove through residential Ferndale, with Boruta skiing behind the car as neighbors took videos and cheered the pair on. One Ferndale resident, Eric Curry, posted video of the stunt to Facebook Monday. Since then, it’s amassed 1,585,783 views and had been shared 26,096 times. After Curry’s video caused an initial stir, Bowman posted his own, showing the stunt form the Jeep’s perspective.

This wasn’t the only incident where T-rex took on Snowmaggeddon - video posted of Canton resident Bernice Lefferts using a snowblower while dressed as America’s favorite dinosaur has also garnered over 6000 views. While the snow that made all this whimsy possible is largely gone, T-rex may rise again in the metroplex this winter. There’s bound to be snow at least once before spring arrives, and with it, perhaps a T-rex that waterskis, mows a lawn or goes Up North for Memorial Day weekend.
