Paint the Town Purple!!

The American Cancer Society has Painted the Town Purple in celebration of its annual Relay For Life event!

The American Cancer Society has Painted the Town Purple in celebration of its annual Relay For Life event.  The color purple represents every type of cancer which is why it is the color of Relay For Life.  This is a great way for the community to join in promoting the American Cancer
Society's signature fundraising event.

participating in Paint the Town Purple.  Thank you to Parker Florist for
creating and donating the purple bows that you see lining Main Street and the
Common.  Thank you to Avon Beauty Center for donating 5% of all Platinum Sales during the week of April 14 to the Relay For Life of Wakefield.  Thank you to

This year's Relay For Life of Wakefield will be held at Northeast Metro
Regional Vocational High School from 4:00pm on June 15, 2013 until 8:00am on
June 16, 2013.  Relay brings together friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, faith-based groups –people from all walks of life – all aimed at celebrating the lives of those who have had cancer, remembering those lost, and fighting back against the disease.

Relay For Life events are held as individuals and teams gather at an athletic track,
park or other gathering area, with the goal of keeping at
least one team member on the track or pathway at all times throughout the evening. Teams do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at their Relay.

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion
with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers,
we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer
or detecting it early; by helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back through public policy. As the nation's largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing about $3.8 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 13.7 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more about us or to get help, call us anytime, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
