A Roanoke City Employee is getting some recognition after saving a man's life during Tropical Storm Michael.
Ninh Nguyen works as a signal technician, and when Michael came last month, he came to check on equipment at the intersection of Mud Lick Road and Brandon Avenue. He saw a man swept away who was trying to cross the road, so he sprang into action, pulling him to safety.
Ninh Nguyen said, “I feel like if he got swept a little bit more, he might get into the creek where the water was flowing very swiftly.”
Nguyen received an award for his efforts. He says it was a privilege to save the man’s life.
