Armed Robbers Steal Hair Extensions Valued At $260 In Sandy Springs: Police

The incident was reported July 11 at Sally Beauty Supply on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Detectives with the Sandy Springs Police Department continue to work the case of two women holding up a beauty supply store, taking more than $200 in hair extensions and fleeing in a car occupied by a child.

Officers were dispatched around 7:53 p.m. July 11 to Sally Beauty Supply at 4920 Roswell Road. The officer received a description of the alleged getaway vehicle, an older model Honda Civic, which he saw traveling northbound in the 5700 block of Roswell Road, an incident report released by the agency states.

The officer "spun around on the vehicle" and the driver of the Honda, who observed the officer's actions, began taking actions to elude the cop. The woman "drove recklessly to try to distance herself from me," the officer wrote in the report. The officer activated his vehicle's emergency equipment and followed the Civic onto Interstate 285 westbound where it was noted that the car was affixed with a drive-out tag.

"It was obvious at this point that the driver would not properly stop, and I immediately shut down my emergency equipment, as I had knowledge that a young child was present in the vehicle," the officer stated.

After stopping the pursuit, the officer reported back to the store and met with two employees. The employees said two women, described as black females, entered the store. One woman, described as being heavy-set and in her mid-20's, asked about hair dye. As she was escorted to the hair dye section, a customer "yelled out that the second black female was stealing hair extensions," the report adds.

The second subject, a woman in her mid-20's sporting a thin build and gold hair, allegedly hit the female customer and ran out of the store with eight packets of hair extensions. Police put the value of those items at about $263.92.

One employee locked the door, trapping the heavy-set woman inside the business. The two employees said they were calling the police, but the woman was able to unlock the door and leave.

According to the report, an employee chased after the woman, but the female subject pulled brandished a firearm to stop the pursuit. The woman got into the Honda Civic and the car fled the scene. The incident report notes the vehicle was occupied by the two female subjects, another woman whose description is unknown, a black male and a child in the back seat.
