Raptors' NBA title rests in Kawhi Leonard's large hands

It’s safe to say the Toronto Raptors are in massively good hands with star forward Kawhi Leonard (a.k.a. The Klaw), who won the Finals MVP award in 2014 with the San Antonio Spurs. It’s almost within his grip again with the Raptors leading the Golden State Warriors 3-1 heading into Game 5 Monday (9 p.m. ET, ABC). Leonard is averaging 30.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. A Raptors victory would give TV viewers another chance to see the MVP trophy engulfed by Leonard’s hands, which measure 9.75 inches long. They are a shade smaller than Michael Jordan’s.

No Monday tariffs for Mexico, Trump says

President Donald Trump gave Mexico an ultimatum, demanding that it take stronger action to limit the flow of Central American migrants or he would impose an escalating series of tariffs on the country beginning Monday. But Friday, Trump said he was "indefinitely" suspending the threat because of an agreement reached with Mexico. The New York Times reported Saturday that the steps outlined in the deal were ones Mexico had already agreed to in previous rounds of negotiations, but Trump said the next day that there were some agreements Mexico made that were "not mentioned" in the official declaration.

Sexual abuse crisis didn't skip Southern Baptist churches

On Monday, the Southern Baptist Convention's Executive Committee will consider changes to hold churches accountable for sexual abuse. If approved, they will be taken up Tuesday and Wednesday when representatives from the more than 50,000 Southern Baptist congregations gather for the denomination's annual meeting in Birmingham, Alabama. Leaders in the largest Protestant denomination in the U.S. have spent the past year owning up to abuse in the denomination while trying to position their network of evangelical churches to better prevent sexual abuse in the future.

Mexican man faces federal charges in deadly Texas crash

The alleged driver in a crash that left six people dead near Corpus Christi, Texas, is set to appear before a federal magistrate in Houston on Monday. Ivan Dario Puga-Moreno of Montemorelos, Mexico, is accused of driving a vehicle that was found in a ditch near Robstown on Wednesday. Six people were found dead at the scene and nine were taken to the hospital with injuries, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. A court document states Puga-Moreno was trying to smuggle more than a dozen undocumented immigrants.

Month of rain in a day: Southeast faces massive rains

Rains that rolled into the Southeast will linger at least until Monday, with areas possibly getting a foot of rain, double or even triple the normal rainfall for June, AccuWeather said. Roads became rivers, high-water rescues were underway, and states of emergency were being declared in parts of the Southeast on Sunday after more than a month of rain fell in a day with more on the way. Flooding that brought havoc to Oklahoma, Arkansas and other states over the past two weeks was sweeping east, threatening metro areas such as Atlanta and Nashville, Tennessee, according to AccuWeather.
