Update: Victim In Adger Homicide Identified

A man who was killed in Adger over the weekend has been identified, but his killer is still awaiting charges.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The victim of a weekend homicide in Adger has been identified as 29-year-old Jonathan Carroll.

Just after 10:30 yesterday morning a man called the Sheriff’s Office to report he had shot and killed Jonathan Carroll during an altercation along an access road to a gas well in the 4100 block of Valley Ford Road.
Deputies located the man at Valley Ford Road and Johns Road and he took them to where he had left Carroll’s body.

Detectives learned that the man and Carroll had been riding the dirt roads and had gotten into an argument. The man told them he and Carroll had gotten into an argument and he had shot Carroll in self-defense. Detectives developed evidence that did not support this claim. The name of the suspect is withheld pending formal charges
