Football season is not over, after all.

The Alliance of American Football (AAF), an eight-team professional league founded by Charlie Ebersol and Bill Polian, will debut Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The San Diego Fleet will take on the San Antonio Commanders, and the Atlanta Legends will take on the Orlando Apollos. On Sunday, the Memphis Express take on the Birmingham Iron, and the Salt Lake Stallions face the Arizona Hotshots.

There are a handful of reasons to watch this new, unique football league. Among them: There are no TV timeouts. Teams must attempt two-point conversions after every touchdown. No kickoffs. No halftime. And the 52-man rosters feature some blasts from the past.

The season runs through April 27, which will be the final day of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Here is a team-by-team guide with reasons to watch the AAF.

Alliance of American Football teams

(Eastern Conference)

Atlanta Legends

Stadium:  Georgia State Stadium

Are the uniforms cool?  Royalty wears purple, and the Legends have a crown on their helmet. "Game of Thrones" fans will like these uniforms.

Who is the GM and coach? Former Rams GM Billy Devaney runs the team, which is coached by former Dolphins defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle. Of course, all that pales in comparison knowing Michael Vick is the offensive coordinator. That should be fun.

Remember that guy?  Former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray will be a popular player close to home, and former Michigan star Denard Robinson, also known as "Shoelace," is on board. The defense loaded up on locals with T.J. Barnes, Brandon Watts, KeShun Freeman and Corey Griffin from Georgia Tech, plus Damian Swann and Quincy Mager from Georgia.

Birmingham Iron

Stadium:  Legion Field

Are the uniforms cool?  The Iron have a silver-and-black look, very similar to that of the Sharks in "Any Given Sunday." It is the textbook case of "less is more." They are cool.

Who is the GM and coach?  Longtime NFL assistant and former Alabama offensive line coach Joe Pendry is the GM, and former first-round pick Tim Lewis is the head coach.

Remember that guy?  Can the Auburn and Alabama fans get along? The Iron have former Alabama stars Blake Sims and Trent Richardson, plus former Auburn receiver Quan Bray. Chris Davis, who returned the legendary "Kick Six" in the Iron Bowl for the Tigers, also is on the roster.

Memphis Express

Stadium:  Liberty Bowl Stadium

Are the uniforms cool?  It’s red, white and blue with a jet plane on the helmet. This is a sleek uniform that looks like that of the Arizona Wildcats.

Who is the GM and coach?  Former Seahawks director of player personnel Will Lewis is the GM. Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary is the head coach on a staff that also includes Dennis Thurman and Pepper Johnson.

Remember that guy?  Christian Hackenberg and Zach Mettenberger are the quarterbacks, and receiver Terrence "Pig" Howard played at Tennessee. Former Vanderbilt running back Zac Stacy figures to get carries. The defense has a heavy SEC presence that includes former LSU stars Sam Montgomery and Anthony Johnson.

Orlando Apollos

Stadium: Spectrum Stadium

Are the uniforms cool?  Apollo himself would wear this navy blue uniform with light orange and dark orange tones. The logo is original, too. We like it.

Who is the GM and coach?  Former Seahawks and Falcons GM Tim Ruskell brought back Steve Spurrier, who he knows from the Tampa Bay Bandits days in the USFL. The "head ball coach" is back. No wonder those uniforms feature orange and blue.

Remember that guy?  Austin Appleby and Garrett Gilbert are familiar names at quarterback from their days at Florida and SMU, respectively, along with Purdue running back Akeem Hunt. Former Washington linebacker Azeem Victor and FSU defensive lineman Jacob Pugh are familiar names, too. The Apollos have 15 players from Florida, Florida State and Miami.

(Western Conference)

Arizona Hotshots

Stadium:  Sun Devil Stadium

Are the uniforms cool?  Think North Dakota State. The yellow, green and orange combination works. The logo is OK, but the Hotshots were good enough to put the number on the side of the helmet.

Who is the GM and coach? Former Browns GM Phil Savage is in charge, and Rick Neuheisel, who played in the USFL in 1984-85, is the head coach.

Remember that guy?  Trevor Knight, the quarterback who passed for 348 yards and four TDs in the 2014 Sugar Bowl against Alabama, is the quarterback. Larry Rose II rushed for 4,558 yards and 37 TDs at New Mexico State. Former Georgia defensive tackle Trenton Thompson is on the defense.

Salt Lake Stallions

Stadium: Rice-Eccles Stadium

Are the uniforms cool?  They look like the old Seahawks uniforms, with a light silver-and-gray combination. The logo is clever.

Who is the GM and coach?  Longtime NFL exec Randy Mueller is in charge, and he brought back Dennis Erickson, who coached at Miami and with the 49ers and Seahawks.

Remember that guy?  Utah running back Matt Asiata will be a fan favorite in his old stadium, and there is a heavy Nebraska presence on the offense with Terrell Newby and Kenny Bell. Former BYU standouts Handsome Tanielu and Micah Hannemann are on the defense.

San Antonio Commanders

Stadium: Alamodome

Are the uniforms cool?  All kinds of colors here with maroon, red, silver and white, and it looks like a collision between Virginia Tech and Louisville.

Who is the GM and coach?  Cowboys legend Daryl Johnston is the GM. Former Nebraska coach Mike Riley is the head coach, and former Wake Forest and Baylor coach Jim Grobe joins him as the defensive coordinator.

Remember that guy?  Former Toledo quarterback Logan Woodside will get a shot here. The Commanders have running backs you’ll remember, like Minnesota’s David Cobb, Houston’s Kenneth Farrow, TCU’s Aaron Green and Texas A&M’s Trey Williams. Iowa State linebacker Joel Lanning also made the roster.

San Diego Fleet

Stadium: SDCCU Stadium

Are the uniforms cool? These Battleship gray and yellow uniforms have a Naval theme, and they look sharp. The aircraft carrier logo is awesome.

Who is the coach?  Dave Boller is the GM, but it’s former Rams coach Mike Martz who is the most-recognizable name here. Martz was the coach in the loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl 36.

Remember that guy?  Arizona State’s Mike Bercovici and East Carolina’s Phillip Nelson are fighting for time at quarterback, and Colorado’s Nelson Spruce and Stanford’s Francis Owusu were solid players in college. Damontre Moore was a solid pass-rusher at Texas A&M, and linebacker A.J. Tarpley had 299 tackles at Stanford.
