Terrific Tuesdays Program Gets Kids Gardening In Rochester Hills

Terrific Tuesday at the Rochester Hills Museum gets the community's youngest citizens connecting their five senses to gardening.

ROCHESTER HILLS, — A summertime program has local children connecting with gardening in Rochester Hills.

Terrific Tuesdays in the Garden at the Rochester Hills Museum give children with the chance to use all five senses while learning the basics of gardening. There is a new theme each week and children enjoy stories, crafts, activities and snacks at the event.

Terrific Tuesdays Need To Know

  • Program: Terrific Tuesdays in the Garden
  • Time: 3-5 years from 10am-11am, and 6-10 years 1pm-2:30pm
  • Dates: See Below
  • Location: The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm
  • Cost: Museum Members: $5; Non-members: $7 Pre-register: via PayPal at www.rochesterhills.org/musprograms, by emailing rhmuseum@rochesterhills.org or by calling 248-656-4663.

Children ages 3 to 5 years and their caregivers learn the best of gardening, including how plants grow, how butterflies and ladybugs help, that people can eat food from plants for every letter of the alphabet, and there are plants for every color of the rainbow. Children ages 6 to 10 years learn more about horticulture, botany and entomology through literature, activities, crafts and snacks.

The cost is $5 for museum members and $7 for non-members.

The Rochester Hills Museum is located at 1005 Van Hoosen Road, off Tienken Road between Rochester and Dequindre Roads.
