Franklin Flea heads to Headhouse Square for outdoor season

Franklin Flea is taking some of the city’s best vendors to the great outdoors this year.

Franklin Flea is taking some of the city's best vendors to the great outdoors this year.

Previously housed on the first floor of the Historic Strawbridge's building at 8th and Market for its spring, fall and holiday seasons (with special dates at McCall Elementary School), the hit antique and vintage market comes to Headhouse Square (2nd and Lombard Streets) this year.

On the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from May through October, the outdoor plaza will be filled with anywhere from 40 to  60 vendors selling vintage, upcycled and locally created pieces.

Always a food-friendly market with local eateries feeding hungry shoppers each week, a new feature for this year's flea includes a food and beer hall on select weeks. A cool team-up between South Street District bars and restaurants and other Philly food trucks, the bites and drinks will be flowing along with the specialty buying.

The season kicks off on Saturday, May 9 and continues on Saturdays May 23, June 13 and 27, July 11 and 25, Aug. 8 and 22, Sept. 12 and 26 and Oct. 10 and 24. Hours for every market are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The curated lineup of vendors include wood frames and furniture from Reclaimed Crafts, homemade candles from Olliver Lifestyle and spices from Saint Lucifer.
