Oregon now has the No. 1 recruiting class in basketball, and one ranking has the Ducks No. 1 in football, too

Nobody is recruiting across the major college sports like the Oregon Ducks right now.

Oregon basketball picked up some really big news earlier today, as five-star big man Bol Bol, the son of former NBA big man Manute Bol, committed to the Ducks.

That’d be a big deal all on its own (I mean, literally, since Bol is 7’2, after all), but he’s not the only big-time recruit for Oregon right now. Bol joins fellow five-star mega recruit Louis King and blue-chippers Will Richardson and Miles Norris, giving Oregon the top current class in the entire dang country, per the 247 Sports Composite rankings.

Oregon, right now, has a better basketball recruiting class than Kansas, or North Carolina, or Kentucky. That’s really impressive!

What might be even more impressive is that the Ducks also have a great football recruiting class right now.

In fact, Oregon is arguably recruiting better across both sports for 2018 than any other program in the country.

According to the 247 Sports Team Composite rankings, Oregon football has the No. 6 current class. But if you want to use just Scout.com’s rankings (which are now hosted at 247), then Oregon would have the top class in both. The football Ducks are No. 6 at ESPN and Rivals and No. 7 in 247’s non-Composite rankings.

The Ducks aren’t likely to actually finish with the top-ranked football recruiting class. They have 23 current commits, five more than Ohio State and Texas, two programs that could battle with Alabama for the top ranking this season, but thanks to their 13 current blue-chip commits, they’re a good bet to at least finish in the top 10, especially since the Ducks have the chance to lock up most of this class with the new early National Signing Day in December.

Finishing in the top 10 for both football and men’s basketball recruiting is a tricky thing to do.

Right now, Notre Dame is the only other program to currently have classes in both top 10s, and only Michigan and Florida are in the top 15 in both groups.

We’re still a ways away from everything being finalized, but if this trend holds, the future certainly looks bright for both of Oregon’s marquee sports.
