AND EVEN GRABBING A PAINT BRUSH AND ENJOYING A MESS-FREE MASTERPIECE ON THIS ELECTRONIC CANVAS. AMY RUMMEL: THIS ONE IS ON THE FLOOR BECAUSE OF JACKSON POLLOCK. LAURANN: THESE ARE JUST A COUPLE OF THE HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES INSIDE JOSLYN ART MUSEUM’S ARTWORKS EXHIBIT WHERE KIDS CAN HAVE FUN, WHILE LEARNING. AMY RUMMEL: HE WAS A PAINTER WHO WAS KNOWN FOR DRIP PAINTINGS, WHERE HE WOULD PUT HIS CANVAS ON THE FLOOR AND SPLATTER AND DRIP PAINT. LAURANN: AND WITH NEARLY 20 ART GALLERIES INSIDE, AND OUTSIDE, THE BUILDING. THERE’S SOMETHING FOR EVERY MEMBER OF THE FAMILY TO ENJOY. BUT THAT’S NOT THE ONLY KID-FRIENDLY, FREE ART MUSEUM AROUND TOWN. KANEKO ON THE CORNER OF 11TH AND JONES, IS BUSY INSTALLING IT’S NEWEST EXHIBIT "REALITY". Continuing our weeklong series of giving ideas for free summer activities for the entire family -- today, we dive into the local art scene.At the Joslyn Art Museum's Artworks exhibit, kids can create their own stop-motion movies, draw on mirrors with markers for a unique self-portrait and grab a paint brush to enjoy a mess-free masterpiece on an electronic canvas."This one is on the floor because of Jackson Pollock. He was a painter who was known for drip paintings, where he would put his canvas on the floor and splatter and drip paint," said Amy Rummel, director of marketing for the Joslyn Art Museum.With nearly 20 art galleries inside, and outside, the building, there is something for every member of the family to enjoy.But the Joslyn Art Museum is not the only kid-friendly, free art museum around Omaha. Kaneko, located on the corner of 11th and Jones streets, is busy installing its newest exhibit "Reality." "We'll have the VR (virtual reality) headsets. We'll also have some 360 video, some exploration; there's some large technological apparatuses like multitech screen," said Chris Hochstetler, executive director of Kaneko.There are also several permanent displays, like the sculptures from the museum's namesake Jun Kankeo.
