Close up: The fairytale makeup from the Christian Dior haute couture show

For its haute couture show on January 21 at Paris Fashion Week, Dior erected a big-top in the gardens of the Rodin Museum. The stage was set for a show inspired by the circus, including clownish makeup by director of image and makeup at Dior, Peter Philips. Here are the photos.

The Christian Dior #DiorDreamParade made its mark on Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2019. In the gardens of the Rodin Museum, the models walked amongst acrobats and big-top style décor, wearing Maria Grazia Chiuri’s circus inspired collection. The fairytale spirit of the show was accentuated under the brush of Peter Philips, creative director of Dior makeup, with the eyes of the models defined with clown-like liner. The bright colors characteristic of the costume were paired with black, bold pigments, for a highly sophisticated finish. Glitter skullcaps only made the look more magical.
