Rhode Island's Best Schools: New Rankings Released

The Wheeler School on Providence's East Side has been named the state's best school, according to the website Niche.com. Niche, which has ranked the nation's top public and private schools for 2019, released the list this week. Separate lists are also available for the best private, best public, best elementary, best middle and best high schools.

Private schools snagged eight of the top 10 slots. Barrington High is the top public school in the state and broke into the top 10 at seventh place. It's also the number one public high school. Kingston Hill Academy in Saunderstown is Rhode Island's top public elementary school, and Barrington Middle School is the best public middle school.

To come up with the rankings, Niche used data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores and reviews from parents. To read more about the methodology, please click here.
