Authorities Identify Man, 21, Who Died In Sunday Crash

WASHBURN COUNTY, WI — Authorities have identified the 23-year-old man from Chetek who died Sunday afternoon in a Washburn County accident.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is reporting that 23-year-old Brett Tyler was behind the wheel of his 2017 Volkswagen Passat on Boot Lake Road when the driver of a pickup truck heading in the opposite direction collided head-first into his and a second vehicle.

Authorities say the driver of that pickup truck, 51-year-old Donald D. Meyer of Chippewa Falls, received life-threatening injuries in the crash and is currently in serious condition at the Hennepin County Hospital.

The State Patrol says the driver of the second vehicle, a 24-year-old man from Rice Lake, was struck by Meyer's pickup truck, however was not injured.
