James May ‘loses doughnut virginity’ on Grand Tour (Picture: Twitter/ PA)

James May lost his ‘doughnut virginity’ on Grand Tour and let’s say it didn’t go too well at all.

The presenter on the Amazon Prime driving show was put up to the task to do the popular manoeuvre for the first time.

The move means the driver has to rotate the rear or front of the vehicle around the opposite set of wheels in a continuous motion, creating a circular skid-mark pattern of rubber on a carriageway.

Basically, it’s tricky.

Before James got into the car, his co-host Jeremy Clarkson muttered: ‘I don’t think he has ever done a doughnut in his life.

‘You are about to witness James D. May losing his virginity.’

Adding to the gag, Richard Hammond said: ‘Popping his doughnut cherry’.

And like many first times, it didn’t really go as expected. The whole experience looked a little awkward and filled with empty promises and faux finishes.

Sound familiar?

It was so bad James ironically shouted out ‘cock’ and ‘bollocks.’

‘It took him a little while but eventually, he got the hang of it,’ Jeremy narrated from the sidelines before asking Richard if they should just walk away from the uncomfortable situation.

‘Why don’t we just go? Come on James, we’ve gotta go,’ Jeremy said.

The Grand Tour returned on Friday 18 January, meaning it’s ready to stream right now.

You will able to watch new episodes of The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime Video, in addition to the whole of the first two seasons of the show.

A trailer, which was released in November, sees Hammond risking his life again, breaking down in a 4X4 across a bridge which would just about carry us and our weekly food shop.

So you know it’s going to be a fun one.

The first episode of The Grand Tour season three was released on Amazon Prime Friday 18 January. The second episode will drop on Friday 25 January.
