Saint Leo University To Host 2016 Veterans Day Ceremony

The event will also feature a service project for military personnel.

SAINT LEO, FL -- One of the nation’s top schools for veterans will host its annual ceremony to honor all veterans.

Saint Leo University, recently ranked the eighth best in the United States for Online & Nontradtional Colleges, will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

State Rep. Danny Burgess, R-Zephyrhills, will be the guest speaker during the ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on the loggia outside the School of Business Building at the university’s main campus, 33701 State Road 52, Saint Leo. Light refreshments will be served.

In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be moved inside to the Student Community Center boardrooms.

In addition, Saint Leo Community Engagement will host its annual Fall Community Service Day on the Student Activities Building Green. This year’s activity will support Operation Gratitude, which sends care packages to active-duty troops. The organization also sends letters of appreciation to new recruits, active service members, veterans and first responders.

Saint Leo students will create paracord survival bracelets for active-duty members and first responders. Paracord is a nylon robe originally used for suspension lines on parachutes. IT can stretch up to 7.5 feet and hold 550 pounds in weight.

In addition, Saint Leo University student organizations will host various activities to help give back to veterans and active troops.
