100s Of Motorcycles, ATVs Lead Police On Chase Through Lakewood

Clifton Boulevard residents heard the unmistakable buzz of dirt bikes and the wail of sirens as police chased the unruly horde of riders.

LAKEWOOD, OH — Hundreds of motorcycles and ATVs led police on a car chase through Lakewood on Sunday. The vehicles tore through the city, driving on sidewalks and lawns, and reportedly breaking multiple traffic laws.

The chase started on Clifton Boulevard, with police pursuing the pack of vehicles west. The gang of ATVs and motorcycles refused to stop for officers, Captain Ed Hassing of Lakewood Police told Patch.

Lakewood Police were forced to block certain intersections to protect other drivers while the horde tore through town. Law enforcement did manage to make five arrests, police said, and one of the motorists crashed their vehicle. The injured motorist was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown.

The gang of motorcycles (or possibly dirt bikes) and ATVs also harassed Cleveland residents on Sunday, blocking traffic in the city and refusing to stop for police.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was also involved in the pursuit of the vehicles. The agency told WKYC that the group of motorists broke into smaller packs once police began pursuing them. The ATVs and motorcycles ended up driving into different cities, including Cleveland.
