Thanks to Tormund, we know Game of Thrones' Jon Snow has a small penis.

That's an opening sentence we never thought we'd write and here's another: we now know why Kit Harington's resurrected character has a small package – and it's not because it's cold on the Wall.

"There has to be some downside to being Kit Harington, right? It seems only fair," joked showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss to Esquire.

"He's handsome, talented, smart, and so decent to the core that it's impossible not to like him. Maddening. The one thing we can do is saddle his character with a tiny pecker."

And it turns out Jon Snow's small penis isn't the only joke Harington has to deal with on the set of Game of Thrones.

"There's a consistent drumbeat of taking the piss out of his incredible hair and startling good looks," noted Emilia Clarke. "His hair just takes over everything. My ridiculous handcrafted wig doesn't come close to standing up to his man bun."

But Harington gives as good as he gets according to Alfie Allen, who explained how Harington would steal the showrunners' phones and send "disgusting, distasteful and hilarious" texts to their friends.

Benioff and Weiss added: "It takes real strength of character not to let being Kit Harington turn you into an asshole. And in the past eight years, Kit has not taken a single step in that direction."

Sadly, their fun is almost at an end with season seven already wrapped and the final eighth season confirmed to be only six episodes long.

Harington has been hinting that once Game of Thrones ends, he might take a step away from the public eye, explaining that he would like "a few years of relative obscurity".

Game of Thrones returns to HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK on July 16. Watch the new trailer below:
