Deltaville neighborhood deals with flooding
DELTAVILLE, VA (WWBT) - High tide brought flooding along the Virginia coast, especially in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula areas.
People living near the marina and along the shores in Deltaville are prepared. Emergency officials say there were no storm related injuries. For several days, waves have battered the homes at White Point Cove in Deltaville. Heavy winds have tested how well people along the shore prepared.
At high tide on Monday, there was no fighting the high water, but it happens during every big storm and the people living here say they look out for each other.
"This isn't as bad as it was yesterday," said resident Jay Williams. "We've been running around just looking at everyone's property, just trying to help everyone out."
After several days and very little sleep, Williams is ready for higher ground at his regular home in Chesterfield.
"I'm tired of it," he said. "I've feel like I've been in a washing machine for about three days."
Middlesex County emergency officials say the area was blessed. Officials say there were calls for trees down and blocked roads, but there were no storm related injuries. They credit that to people being prepared for whatever Mother Nature decided to bring.
