NARUNA, Va. (WSET) - Wednesday was Family & Youth Fun Day at William Campbell High in Naruna.

Kids got to meet some area college athletes, like NFL-bound Oren Burks who recently graduated from Vanderbilt.

As a kid, Burks spent most of his summers with his grandfather and other family members in Central Virginia, so today was a chance for fellowship and giving back to the community.

Burks' father Orlanda played for and graduated from Rustburg in 1982. The younger Burks was picked in the third round of the NFL Draft in April by the Green Bay Packers and reports to training camp in just a couple of weeks.

He's a hybrid linebacker/free safety and can't wait for his NFL shot.

Oren Burks, GREEN BAY PACKERS 3RD-ROUND DRAFT PICK, said "I know that there's definitely a competition at linebacker at that position so I know I can come in and contribute to the team as much as possible. So just trying to learn as much as possible in the playbook and make a difference on the field when the season comes around. I mean three things I try to live by are focus, persistence and faith. Be focusing on your goals, be persistent in your process, just have faith in God, in your family members and people around you that you're going to get to where you want to be."
