Could Bull season 2 episode 20 be Cote de Pablo appearance?

Bull season 2 episode 7

We’re nearing the end of Bull season 2 and with that, doesn’t this feel like the right time to discuss the possibility of a Cote de Pablo appearance? We’ve talked about this before, but recently we noticed something a little interesting that while isn’t a confirmation, is making us take pause.

For starters, we are at a point in the season right now where her addition, even as a one-episode guest star, would be an accent to an already-great show with a fantastic cast. We definitely do understand some of the fears in the early going that Bull did not want to just replicate NCIS by bringing in a number of past performers from that show — it does need its own identity and we do think that it now has that. This is a pretty fantastic world that has been set up now and with that, adding Cote would only accent it further. There are certainly other NCIS favorites we would like to see at some point, but it’s difficult with the current cast given that these two shows film at roughly the same time. (We’re still game to see former NCIS star Sasha Alexander stop by at some point!)

If you just want an example of the sort of episode Cote could be a part of that would work perfectly, think in terms of the upcoming April 17 episode entitled “Justified.” If you did not see our full report on it yesterday, the official synopsis can be seen below:

“Justified” – A friend from Bull’s past enlists his services to help convince a jury that a domestic abuse survivor who shot her husband in his sleep is not guilty of murder because she feared for her life and the life of her unborn child, on BULL, Tuesday, April 17 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.”

There are two especially important roles that Cote could play within this episode, whether it be the friend from Bull’s past (which, presumably, would open the door for a possible return down the line plus also provide a nice bit of meta-casting) or the abuse survivor. Obviously this episode has already been filmed, but CBS curiously hasn’t announced who the guest cast for it is going to be and in fact put in the release that the “guest cast TBA” which is not something they normally do. Why keep secret who the guest cast is? That could mean that they have a very familiar face or a big presence that will have people talking and they’re waiting for the right time to announce it to generate the most press — we’re not suggesting that it’s Cote for sure, but wouldn’t that be someone that CBS would hold back on announcing until the time is right? It’s especially so given that Dennis Smith is directing this episode and he worked with both Cote and Michael over on NCIS. (He’s also directed a number of Bull episodes to date.)

CBS should announce details on some of those in the weeks ahead and we will finally learn who the mystery guest cast is.

Update: CBS has finally released the guest cast for this episode, and unfortunately it doesn’t sound as though Cote is going to be in it. It seemed like this was the perfect set of circumstances, but for now, it doesn’t seem as though it’s going to be taking place.
