NAZARETH - Country star Zane Williams will highlight Nazareth's 44th annual German Festival.

Daytime festivities include a German sausage dinner, children's games, vendor booths, a beer garden with a live music stage, a car show, playa lake tour, art exhibit and flag-retirement ceremony.

Saturday evening brings the 2016 Suds and Sounds outdoor concert and dance. Along with Zane Williams, artists include Lee Scheetz and Borderline, Texas Tumbleweed Junction and Drake Hayes.

The festival pays tribute to Nazareth's German culture. Nazareth was established in the early 20th century by a Catholic priest, Joseph Reisdorf. Ever since, the town's Holy Family Catholic Church has played a big role in the community.

The first German Festival came in 1972. Since then, the event's activity lineup has gradually expanded.

Proceeds benefit local organizations.

Nazareth is located just over an hour north of Lubbock, between Tulia and Dimmitt.
