Evelyn Marie Larson

Evelyn Marie Larson, 103, of Fargo passed away peacefully on October 13th at Villa Maria Nursing Home surrounded by family. Evelyn was born January 12, 1915 in Minneapolis. Upon graduation from college she moved to Thief River Falls, MN where she taught kindergarten. It was there that she met her husband L. Milton Larson. They were married on June 25, 1938. They moved to Fargo in 1947 where they raised their four children. Milton died in 1995.

Evelyn remained active in many community activities well into her 80's. She served as president of PEO chapter Y and was active in the Fine Arts Club, Abigail Circle at First Lutheran Church, and the YWCA board. She was instrumental in the construction of the YWCA Women's Shelter and was nominated for Woman of the Year in 2002.

Evelyn was an excellent cook and she knitted many beautiful sweaters and afghans. She was a lover and supporter of the arts attending F-M Symphony concerts regularly as well as plays and other productions. She and Milton travelled extensively throughout the world. She had a special place in her heart for their cottage on Pelican Lake where they hosted annual 4th of July family reunions attended by relatives from across the county. She routinely had a list of things she wanted to do. When she completed one she would always say, "Well, on to the next thing."

Evelyn's first love was her family and they loved her back. She was infectiously positive and could find the bright side of any situation. She and Milton made sure all their grandchildren received a good education. Holidays were always special occasions thanks to Evelyn's cooking, decorating, and traditions.

She is survived by her children, Judith Triebwasser of Fargo, Stephen Larson of Park Rapids, MN, Elizabeth Brunsvold of Sartell, MN, and Richard (Gayle) of Fargo, and 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Fargo on Saturday, November 17, 2018. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with the service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to the YWCA of Fargo, 3100 12th Ave. N, Fargo, ND 58102 or the First Lutheran Church Foundation, 619 Broadway, Fargo, ND 58102.
