Royal Oak Library Update

Royal Oak Library Update

The Royal Oak Public Library is getting a makeover. Demolition of existing pavement and stairs at the north library entrance is slated to start next week.

  • The stairs and brick walls will disappear and a new ADA compliant ramp to the north entrance will be constructed. The north entrance is expected to permanently reopen after being closed to the public for nearly a decade.
  • Decorative streetscape including ornamental street lights, trees with grates and stamped concrete will be put in place to match the looked of the work recently done on East Fourth Street.
  • During construction, the turn lane on 11 Mile north of the library will be closed.
  • Library hours and programs will not be affected by the work on the Eleven Mile side of the building.
  • The sidewalk is expected to reopen in December.

The curbside book drop off box has been temporarily moved to the P4 parking lot behind the police department and City Hall, accessed from Troy Street, during this time.
