Darryl Littleton will deliver a stand-up comedy show at the Upland Library on Feb. 3.

He will also screen the documentary, “Why We Laugh: The Story of Black Comedy in America,” at the event at 6:30 p.m. at the Carnegie Cultural Center at 123 E. D St., Upland.

Littleton began his career writing radio sketches for The Tom Joyner Morning Show on CBS Radio. While there, he became a regular at the Comedy Store and adopted the stage name, “D’Militant” for his slicing and incisive social and political commentary. He became D. L. Hughley’s exclusive writer during his years as host of BET’s Comic View and he penned material for Cedric the Entertainer, Sommore and Don DC Curry, as writer/producer of the show.

He co-produced the full-length African-American comedy documentary which was featured at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009 and Showtime in 2010.

In 2014 Darryl launched his fifth book, “How to Be Funny: The Essential Comedy Handbook,” a tutorial on the art of laughter.
