A weekend in London for Pawan Kalyan

July 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - HYDERABAD:

His last release ‘Sardar Gabbar Singh’ did draw mixed reviews if one were to go by the raging hit that ‘Gabbar Singh’ was. But then considering the actor’s demeanour, he is certainly not the type to keep that in mind, forever, that is.

Then Pawan Kalyan started work for a film that was to be hemmed by S.J. Surya, with Shruti Haasan as his co-star, produced by Sharrat Marar of Northstar Entertainment.

When Surya excused himself due to too many acting assignments, Dolly a.k.a. Kishore Kumar Pardhasani of ‘Thadaka’ fame was asked to take over as the director.

Now using a break, the star has planned a weekend with his fans in the United Kingdom, at the Troxy Theatre in East London, to be more specific. The occasion has been provided by the UK Telugu Association that is celebrating its 6{+t}{+h}annual day this Saturday.

This is interesting because it is the actor’s maiden appearance at a major event anywhere in the UK.

According to the organisers, the crowd will be at least a couple of 1,000, naturally belonging to NRI families from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for whom seeing the star in person will be a cherished memory. At the celebrations, Pawan Kalyan will felicitate artistes from the Kuchipudi Natyaaraamam, including Maddali Usha Gayatri, Srikalaa Jwaala, Vanaja Uday and their students and the team of the folk singer Vaddepally Srinivas, who attracted the spotlight with his ‘Gabbar Singh’ song.
