Howard Stern Show writer Benjy Bronk has claimed responsibility for disrupting Rep Anthony Weiner's resignation press conference.

Weiner has been embroiled in scandal since posting sexually explicit images of himself on Twitter and relented yesterday to calls from Democratic Party leaders to resign his congressional seat.

The New York politician announced his plans to leave office in a televised address, but was heckled on numerous occasions by a man sitting among the press.

Howard Stern Show comic Bronk has taken credit for continuously interrupting Weiner with questions about the congressman's anatomy and also inquiring if he planned to "maintain [his] hot physique and smooth sexy chest".

Bronk took to his Twitter account following the press conference to admit that he couldn't resist the chance to tease Weiner and also drew parallels between his actions and the politician's own choice to post graphic images of himself online.

The joke writer quipped: "just realized, stupid s**t I did, done 4 same reason Weiner did his stupid s**t both just trying 2 get affirmation (love, laughs, etc) (sic)"

The Howard Stern Show staffer also denied that he shouted out "pervert" during Weiner's speech, alleging that another heckler was responsible for that particular insult.

Bronk, who joined Stern's radio show more than a decade ago, was also in attendance last week when Weiner first admitted guilt in a near 45-minute Q&A session with reporters.

Weiner has reportedly been offered a guest appearance on the HBO series Entourage, but has thus far not agreed to film the cameo.
