Byron Womack, Assistant Port Chester MS Principal, Dies At 48

Visitation will be Saturday with his funeral and interment on Tuesday.

PORT CHESTER, NY — The assistant principal of Port Chester Middle School is being mourned. Byron D. Womack died Tuesday, Feb. 20 at the age of 48. He was assistant principal for the past eight years.

Womack graduated from Iona College with a degree in social work, after which he was employed with the Guidance Center’s START program housed at Port Chester High School.

He received a master’s degree in school guidance and counseling and was hired by the Port Chester-Rye school district as a school counselor.

Womak is survived by his parents Shirley and Willie, and his sisters Nita Womack-Henderson and Adrena Womack-Cummings, brothers-in-law Robert Henderson and Simon Cummings and his daughter Carson.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester St., in Port Chester. Womack’s funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Rd. in South Windsor, CT. Interment will follow the funeral service at Wapping Cemetery 155 Demming St. in South Windsor, CT.
